Unconsumption reader Brian Jewett told us about two of his DIY creative-reuse projects: pendant lamps and wall storage.
The kitchen of Brian’s new home — a converted loft in an old textile mill — lacked light. His solution: Combine several lamp cord sets (he used this kind) with empty, cleaned food containers.
Brian also found a new use for paint cans, screwing them onto a wall, using them as storage/hooks for gloves and scarves.

Change the world in five minutes or less.: It's always the plastic.
How many times do you pack a lunch with a plastic bag full of snacks? I used to until I found out that plastic bags are what fills up 40% of land fills. That’s 40% that won’t degrade and will just continue to be bags for 10 to 20 years. There’s a better alternative….
